Samples and technology.

Well, I do believe that the website is fixed. I checked it in firefox, ie and safari and it looks good. I had a dear guardian angel email me last night with some fantastic web pointers that I applied and I guess I flubbed the code up on the first page so it wasn't working for IE, so I had to rewrite it. Again, please please please let me know if something isn't working for you on the website and I'll be glad to fix it immediately.

The reason that I am writing is that it has been a tradition to pick a new sample to send out as the freebie every month. This month, I want you folks to offer suggestions as to what the freebie for the month of November is. Once I collect all of the information, I'll post a poll. that way everyone can pick their favorite. September's sample was Whore of Babylon. October's is Demeter. What would you like to see for November?
Please email your November freebie sample idea to vajra @ conjureoils.com

Are you totally taking advantage of the Apothecary sale? This is, by far, one of my favorite lines.

Also, in other news, I will be discontinuing the free shipping of samplers after the beginning of the new year. The shipping price will be reasonable - $5 for priority mail with a tracking number since so many of you like to have that information with your order. Another option will be $2 for First Class, no tracking. These rates apply to International folks as well. And as old timey as Conjure Oils is, I still need to catch up to the 21st century, no matter how much I'd rather that your packagers were delivered by Pony Express.

Have you seen the Blood Moon so heavy in the sky this month? It's a silvery orb floating in magick and mystery so large it looks like you can lick it. A time for anointing your forehead with jasmine oil and to sip mugwort tea, burn some myrrh incense and see clearly between the veils.

Also, Conjure Oils was once again mentioned in more press in Mlle Noelle's articles. The article is here.

Thank you again for all your help and support.

Thanks again. So much love right for you.

Some Press!

Hello everyone,

Just a quick note to point out a couple of sites that have recently either written about or mentioned Conjure Oils!

My pal Jay had a really nice write-up of his favorite Conjure Oils in his blog here.

And Conjure Oils was also mentioned in the Portland Mercury! They featured Miss Christy Desko, proprietress of Mlle. Noelle's Tea House as "Employee of the Month" You can read that article here.

Thanks again for all your support and your fantastic Yule entries! You rock.

Holiday Contest!

Anyone who knows me knows that I abhor the holidays. I have since I was a little kid. I'm sure there's some deep seated psychological glitch in my system somewhere, but I have a gigantic block when it comes to the holiday season.

I sat down the other day to fine tune my holiday scents and while they're good, I'm just not feeling 'em. I come from a very communal background - I've been a member of co-op collectives too many years to even think that any individual can get anything done on their own. So, I'm turning to you - the good people in the Conjure community to seek your ideas on the impending Yuletide scents.

Here's the contest: Come up with a name, a description, some notes, a story, an image. It doesn't matter which - you can develop the entire concept or just come up with one or two things. From these submissions, I'll select 5 ideas to create for the Yule line this year.

The winners will receive a 10ml bottle of their scent as well as samples of the rest of the line not to mention temporary fame on the Conjure Oils website!

In order for me to potentially use them, all entries will become the property of Conjure Oils so make sure you want them out in the world before you submit your ideas! By entering the contest, you agree to give me permission to use your idea for production. If you don't want your name associated with your entry, let me know, ok? I'll respect your privacy.

Please email your submissions to yulecontest @ conjureoils.com by October 23rd and don't forget to include your contact info!

I'll pick the five winners by Halloween and make the scents available by mid November as scheduled. If I can't decide, or there are too many ideas, I reserve the right to freak out, scrap the whole idea and save some ideas for next year.

Hope this message reaches you happy and healthy.

Good luck!

23rd Psalm

One of the most beautiful and powerful of the Psalms in the Bible is the 23rd Psalm. I recite it for protection, prosperity, reassurance and general blessings. It is extremely powerful when used in conjunction with the setting of lights that have been dressed with condition oils. Conjure Oils makes a particularly effective oil that was formulated with the 23rd Psalm in mind and at heart. It can be found on the Hoodoo page under the Spiritual Oil heading.

Here it is. Print it out. Repeat it often. (And I don't think it really matters if you a Christian or not to use the Psalms. I belive that they have been recited so often that the mere words themselves have built up power over the thousands of years that they've been around.) Give 'em a try.

The 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.

Happy Crowleymass!

93,

I think we're beginning the busy season here at Conjure Oils - I barely have time to write the newsletter, so it may have to go on hold for a bit, but it will be back! Yes!

Today is the birthday of famed (infamous?) Occultist Aleister Crowley. It is also known as Crowleymass, and in light of that, I'm a gonna do two things:

1. Have a sale -
Half off
a bottle of
Crowley
in the Mythos line, underneath Legendary Practitioners - but it's only going to be on sale for today, so if you've been eyeing it, now is the time, my friend!

Here's the description of the perfume oil from taken from the website:

Aleister Crowley- The Great Beast

his name is "Crowley" it rhymes with "Holy" The Prince of Thelema, To Mega Therion. A fragrance reminiscent of a gentlemen's club at the turn of the century: tobacco, black tea, leather, fine cologne and the kiss of a Scarlet Woman.

2. A link to the lyrics of the song "Crowleymass" by Current 93, because I love that song and that band!

In other news, if you've been considering ordering the Hallows LE's, now is the time for that as well because once my stock is gone it's over and I am nearly out! Thank you so much for your love and support and making the Hallows scents such a success!!

Have a great week!

Conjurations Newsletter, Vol I, Issue 4

Hello Everyone!

Oh my goodness. I think I missed a week! Time has been flying by here. The weather has been odd, to say the least. After a very mild summer we seem to have launched headlong into full-on fall. Sometimes it even feels wintry. But next to spring, it's my favorite time of year, so I am not complaining. :)

There is so much going on, I could fill this newsletter with just that, so maybe I will.

First off, folks in the Portland, Oregon area may want to check out Mademoiselle Noelle's Fortune Tea House on NE Fremont and 57th. Not only do they have delicious coffee, tea, snacks, nibbly things and other goodies, they offer readings - tea leaf as well as other readings. I met up with Mademoiselle Noelle earlier this week and am pleased to announce that she will be stocking some of the Conjure Oils line of fragrances. Right now, she will be carrying some scents from the Speakeasy and the Hallows lines. I wish her the best! Her space feels great and she's a fantastic lady! Both she and her Teahouse will be featured in the A&E section of The Oregonian this Friday!

Second, Conjure Oils donated 100 perfume samples to the upcoming Salem Witches Ball/Festival of the Dead in Salem, MA. They will go in the gift bags given out at the Ball to the first hundred guests. The theme is "The Scarlet Letter" so half the samples are Whore of Babylon and the other half, Jezebel. (Both scents are from the Mythos line.) Lucky devils!

Conjure Oils was also nicely featured on the bath and body section of the Craft Gossip blog. Miz Bella, Bath and Body Editor, has a evocative way with words and also makes some lovely scents herself. You can read the blog entry here and Miz Bella's own website, The Queen's Obsession is here. I am particularly tickled by her "Pretty Poisons" line!

Oily Bits

Have you had a chance to try the 15 sampler set from the Speakeasy line yet? Since we've launched it, it is (next to the Hallow's LE's) our best seller by far. It is a great combination of scents for both men and women and a good blend of old fashioned aesthetics with a contemporary flair. Hope you get a chance to try them!

Have a fantastic week and try to stay out of the Halloween candy!

Until the next time, be well.

Love and Bliss,

Vajra
