LAST CHANCE! Goth Chick Pride is LIVE for Goth Chick Appreciation Day!

October 13, 2013

Guess what?!? It's Goth Chick Appreciation Day Once Again!

While it might have its origins in a silly Facebook meme, Goth Chick Appreciation day has stuck a chord with thousands of Goth, (or recovering Goth) ladies out there and it's completely understandable why! So much of the year we spend fending off questioning or horrified looks from people - it's nice to have a day to be honored and at least one day a year where our wardrobe makes sense!

I made this one available in May for a brief period, so I don't have many bottles left for this year. And honestly, I think this is the last time I'm going to be able to offer it because of component issues, so if you've been on the wrought iron cemetery fence, now is the time to get yours!

$20.00 for 5ml Perfumed oil

Goth Chick Pride is limited to a run of about 13 bottles. Once we're out, we' re out! FOR GOOD.

Decanted in 5ml glass amber bottles

Show your Goth spirit! Aged black patchouli, sexy garnet pomegranate, clove tobacco, vanilla smoke and red musk. Destined to be a classic!

Get yours HERE

SWAG!
You can get all sorts of Goth Chick Pride goodies like T-shirts, mugs and posters in our Zazzle store! Lookit HERE! We've sold quite a few! So, I'll just keep on flashing y'all my mug!

Here's Miss Vajra modeling her own Conjure Oils' Goth Chick Pride long sleeve t-shirt. You, too, can have your very own!

Happy GCP day, Darklings!

Hallows 2013 - The Book of Hallowe'en - is LIVE at Conjure!

October 4, 2013

THE BOOK OF HALLOWE'EN - HALLOWS 2013
At long last! Hallows 2013 is LIVE and ENORMOUS at Conjure Oils! It's the time of year that I most look forward to creating and because of that I sometimes often let my inherent perfectionism get the better of me! But like Alfred E. Newman, I don't worry because I think, and I hope you do as well, that it's worth the wait. Truly, you're getting my very best and strongest work in exchange for the few extra days it takes for me to polish the collection until it's sparkling!
This year, I've taken my inspiration from The Book of Hallowe'en, written by Ruth E. Kelley, published in 1919. It is a fascinating little tome that covers the history of the holiday dating back to the sun worshipping Druids leading up to the observation of the holiday as it was celebrated at the turn of the last century! I'm sure that you'll find this year's Hallows update to be poetic, quirky, whimsical and steeped in Victoriana - just as you've come to expect from Conjure!
SHIPPING
Because we're getting Hallows off with a bit of a late start this year, know that all Hallows orders placed will be shipped within FIVE business days, so you can enjoy your seasonal sniffies in a timely fashion! Last day for orders that will arrive on or by the 31st of October is 25th October, domestic and October 18th for International orders. Hopefully the USPS will deliver them without glitch once they leave here, but I can only guarantee my ship date, not the delivery date! :D
HALLOWS 2013 - RESURRECTED, ETSY & EBAY
In addition to the newest collection, we will be resurrecting:
the KWAIDAN collection from last year in in its entirety,
THE DANCE OF DEATH in its German fierceness.
Again, you can get a custom scent created in the CARNAL DELIGHTS collection,  along with the Hallows staples you've come to look forward to each year in THE GHOST OF HALLOWS PAST!
If there are particular scents you'd like to have that weren't made available this year, you may have some luck in our ETSY shoppe as we're going to be adding some Hallows bottles from updates of yore during the entire month of October! Also feel free to make requests; I may be able to dig some classics out for you. Just send a convo via ETSY or an email.
I have three bottles of Whore of Babylon ORIGINAL FORMULA up for auction on EBAY in the next week or so! The money received from the sales of these items will be donated to Planned Parenthood. Let sexy times stay sexy and there's nothing more sexy than being healthy! Make sure you're subscribed to our newsletter, EVOCATIO, so you can get the heads up that the new items are live!
ODDMENT EMPORIUM & OTHER DELIGHTS!
If the success of the Summer offering was any indication, I think you'll find the Autumn update in the Oddment Emporium just as thrilling! Taking inspiration from the FaceBook page, The Grandiloquent Word of the Day, a page that illustrates outmoded, superfluous, and outdated words and gives them new life in a humorous, often, irreverent way. I recommend it highly! We will also be adding the next installation to the seasonal Parasol collection that was started in the summer with Fire Dragon Parasol! These scents will be available in 5ml perfumes, lotions, scrubs, body sprays and candles!
Unique to the Hallows update, we'll be adding the following items to the Emporium for the season: Pumpkin Body Butter (glorious glitter optional!) and Halloween candles poured in delightful tins festooned in many festive designs from pink glow in the dark punk rock girl skull and crossbones girls, to black and white stripes framing a grinning pumpkin! All available in seasonal scents and vibrant colors!
These will be available in the next week or so along with the Oddment Emporium update.
DANCING IN THE DARK
Also in the spirit of the Hallows season for a limited engagement Conjure will be offering 13 ritual oils for use in matters of the dark arts: good ol' fashioned cursing, spiritism, necromancy, coercion, domination, damnation and all things hellishly devious and devilishly hideous!! Use at your own peril! Curios only: We will not be held responsible for any dings on your Karmic credit report or any pacts signed with any demonic figures, in blood or otherwise.
Dancing in the Dark will go live along with the Oddment Emporium update very soon! Stay tuned! Remember to sign up to EVOCATIO so you'll know right away!
YULE CONTEST TIME!
Every year, Conjure Oils invites each citizen of Conjure County to contribute to our Yule collection. We ask that you send your ideas, (in the form of one email per person, please!) It could be everything from a feeling to a long drawn out concept. I will select the entries that I feel best fit together into a comprehensive whole. The people who's ideas I use will each get $50 in Conjure Credit to spend in 2014! That contest is a go as of right now, so hop to it, yo! Email your entry, when you're ready, to yulecontest at conjureoils.com. All submissions must be received by November 1, 2013. Winners will be notified right before the Yule line goes live, around Mid November. Good luck, everyone! Fine print: All entries are property of Conjure Oils and by entering the contest to agree to terms and conditions and waive any right to intellectual property or ownership once they're emailed in. We'll do what we want with them! Muahahah!
And now for the love of all things dark and unholy, I present for your consideration AT LONG LAST...

THE BOOK OF HALLOWE'EN 2013
A collection of thirteen darkly delightful scents inspired by The Book of Hallowe'en, written by Ruth E. Kelley, published in 1919.

THE AUTUMN WIND
The Autumn wind — oh hear it howl!
Without — October's tempests scowl,
As he troops away on the raving wind!
And leaveth dry leaves in his path behind!
Without — without,
Oh hear him shout.
He is making the old trees bare;
Oh cruel, he,
To the old oak tree,
And the garden hedge so fair!
Oh, a wild and tyrannous king is he,
When he playeth his frolic in every tree.
And maketh the forest bare!
Excerpt from Halloween; a romaunt, with lays, meditative and devotional by A. Cleveland Coxe, 1845
Dried oak leaf and acorn, honey cured leather, toasted tobacco leaf and sun warmed hay.

DEATH of the FLOWERS
The melancholy days are come, the saddest of the year,
Of wailing winds, and naked woods, and meadows brown and sere.
Heaped in the hollows of the grove, the wither'd leaves lie dead;
They rustle to the eddying gust, and to the rabbit's tread.
The robin and the wren are flown, and from the shrub the jay
And from the wood-top calls the crow, through all the gloomy day.
"The wind-flower and the violet, they perished long ago,
And the wild rose and the orchis died amid the summer glow:
But on the hill the golden-rod, and the aster in the wood,
And the yellow sun-flower by the brook in autumn beauty stood,
Till fell the frost from the cold clear heaven, as falls the plague on men,
And the brightness of their smile was gone from upland, glade, and glen.
Excerpt from Death of the Flowers by William C. Bryant, 1900
Frosted wild rose, the decay of exotic orchids moribund at the end of their season, goldenrod, mauve asters, woodland moss, African violet and twilit musk.

A GYPSY FLAME
A gypsy flame in on the hearth,
Sign of this carnival of mirth.
Through the dun fields and from the glade
Flash merry folk in masquerade--
It is the witching Hallowe'en.
Pale tapers glimmer in the sky,
The dead and dying leaves go by;
Dimly across the faded green
Strange shadows, stranger shades, are seen,--
It is the mystic Hallowe'en.
Soft gusts of love and memory
Beat at the heart reproachfully;
The lights that burn for those who die
Were flickering low, let them flare high--
It is the haunting Hallowe'en.
--A.F. MURRAY, in Harper's Weekly, Oct. 30, 1909
Bewitching swirls of the bonfire smoke, spun sugar, warm caramelized popcorn and candy coated apples.

THE HAUNTED CHAMBER
.Each heart has its haunted chamber,
Where the silent moonlight falls!
On the floor are mysterious footsteps,
There are whispers along the walls!
And mine at times is haunted
By phantoms of the Past
As motionless as shadows
By the silent moonlight cast.
A form sits by the window,
That is not seen by day,
For as soon as the dawn approaches
It vanishes away.
It sits there in the moonlight
Itself as pale and still,
And points with its airy finger
Across the window-sill.
Without before the window,
There stands a gloomy pine,
Whose boughs wave upward and downward
As wave these thoughts of mine.
And underneath its branches
Is the grave of a little child,
Who died upon life's threshold,
And never wept nor smiled.
What are ye, O pallid phantoms!
That haunt my troubled brain?
That vanish when day approaches,
And at night return again?
What are ye, O pallid phantoms!
But the statues without breath,
That stand on the bridge overarching
The silent river of death?
The Haunted Chamber by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, 1893
Red musk, black opium tar, narcissus, pomegranate blossom, myrrh and patchouli leaves soaked in vanilla extract.

Excerpt from Macbeth by William Shakespeare, 1603-1607
Black coconut, almond blossom, toasted patchouli, nutmeg, beeswax and bubbling green sugar cane syrup.

JACK-O-LANTERN with TERRIBLE TEETH!
I spot the hills
With yellow balls in autumn.
I light the prairie cornfields
Orange and tawny gold clusters
And I am called pumpkins.
On the last of October
When dusk is fallen
Children join hands
And circle round me
Singing ghost songs
And love to the harvest moon;
I am a jack-o'-lantern
With terrible teeth
And the children know
I am fooling.
Theme in Yellow by Carl Sandburg, 1916
Fresh pumpkin, corn husk, golden sandalwood and the musk of a crisp October night.

POMONA
I am the ancient apple-queen.
As once I was so am I now--
For evermore a hope unseen
Betwixt the blossom and the bough.
Ah, where's the river's hidden gold!
And where's the windy grave of Troy?
Yet come I as I came of old,
From out the heart of summer's joy.
Pomona by William Morris, 1891
Glorious winesap apples, amber sap, sun-scorched grass and a touch of clary sage.

THE SPELL
With my sharp heel I three times mark the ground,
And turn me thrice around, around, around.
Two hazel-nuts I threw into the flame,
And to each nut I gave a sweet-heart's name.
This with the loudest bounce me sore amaz'd,
That in a flame of brightest colour blaz'd.
As blaz'd the nut, so may thy passion grow,
For 'twas thy nut that did so brightly glow.
"With my sharp heel I three times mark the ground,
And turn me thrice around, around, around.
Excerpt from The Spell by John Gay, 1714
A steamed pumpkin-hazelnut latte drizzled with a vanilla caramel swirl.

THE HOLLOW MEN
We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar
Shape without form, shade without colour,
Paralysed force, gesture without motion;
Those who have crossed
With direct eyes, to death's other Kingdom
Remember us -- if at all -- not as lost
Violent souls, but only
As the hollow men
The stuffed men.
Dried straw, lavender, and wormwood stuffed scarecrow with weathered leather and rusted metal stained with forgotten blood.

THE TWILIGHT KINGDOM
Eyes I dare not meet in dreams
In death's dream kingdom
These do not appear:
There, the eyes are
Sunlight on a broken column
There, is a tree swinging
And voices are
In the wind's singing
More distant and more solemn
Than a fading star.
Let me be no nearer
In death's dream kingdom
Let me also wear
Such deliberate disguises
Rat's coat, crowskin, crossed staves
In a field
Behaving as the wind behaves
No nearer --
Not that final meeting
In the twilight kingdom
Sandalwood incense, crow black cedarwood smoke, black poppy seed, pomegranate husk, tonka bean and silver mugwort.

FROM PRAYERS TO BROKEN STONE
This is the dead land
This is cactus land
Here the stone images
Are raised, here they receive
The supplication of a dead man's hand
Under the twinkle of a fading star.
Is it like this
In death's other kingdom
Waking alone
At the hour when we are
Trembling with tenderness
Lips that would kiss
Form prayers to broken stone.
Aloe vera, Saguaro cactus blossom, chaparral, creosote, cumin, cacao, chili pepper and gravel root.

MULTIFOLIATE ROSE of DEATH
The eyes are not here
There are no eyes here
In this valley of dying stars
In this hollow valley
This broken jaw of our lost kingdoms
In this last of meeting places
We grope together
And avoid speech
Gathered on this beach of the tumid river
Sightless, unless
The eyes reappear
As the perpetual star
Multifoliate rose
Of death's twilight kingdom
The hope only
Of empty men.
Black, white and crimson roses, stargazer lily, lily of the valley, labdanum, kush, black cherry juice, red patchouli, cardamom and amber cream.

THIS IS THE WAY THE WORLD ENDS
Here we go round the prickly pear
Prickly pear prickly pear
Here we go round the prickly pear
At five o'clock in the morning.
Between the idea
And the reality
Between the motion
And the act
Falls the Shadow
For Thine is the Kingdom
Between the conception
And the creation
Between the emotion
And the response
Falls the Shadow
Life is very long
Between the desire
And the spasm
Between the potency
And the existence
Between the essence
And the descent
Falls the Shadow
For Thine is the Kingdom
For Thine is
Life is
For Thine is the
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.
The Hollow Men by T.S. Elliot, 1925
Pumpkin stout with notes of prickly pear juice, D'anjou pear, black plum and lavender.

HALLOWS RESURRECTED 2013
Kwaidan is a collection of stories written in 1904 by Lafcadio Hearn shortly before his demise. To say he was a Japanophile is a bit of an understatement, as he has written volume after volume on the mythology and spirituality of Japanese culture at the turn of the century.
Like the 1965 eponymous film based on the work of Hearn, we've selected four stories to give you a glimpse into the demons and ghosts that haunt the land of the rising sun and to send a chill down your spine in the process! Some of the stories can be on the long side. Grab a cup of tea (or sake!) and settle in for a thrill. I guarantee it will be worth your time!
The text for the stories is taken from Sacred Texts. com (the best site ever for public domain spiritual works) and the illustrations are by Yasumasa Fujita from a hand made copy of Kwaidan crafted in 1932.
Click on the titles of the stories to read the chilling tales!

THE AUGUST ASSEMBLY
Everywhere above the tombs, the fires of the dead were burning, like candles.
Fierce and ghostly: Conjure Oils' own crimson dragon's blood accord, clove, ginger and cassia are softened with Japanese red musk, red mandarin and luminous white tea.
THE BATTLE AT DAN-NO-URA
Hoichi lifted up his voice, and chanted the chant of the fight on the bitter sea,--wonderfully making his biwa to sound like the straining of oars and the rushing of ships, the whirr and the hissing of arrows, the shouting and trampling of men, the crashing of steel upon helmets, the plunging of slain in the flood.
Black and starless skies coupled with turbulent and bloodied waters: Bruised musk, dried black currant, antiqued patchouli, murky gray amber, maritime juniper, bois de rose and the tormented memories of blood soaked metal, fathomless grief and boundless loss.
MIMI-NASHI-HOICHI
From the time of his adventure, he was known only by the appellation of Mimi-nashi-Hoichi: "Hoichi-the-Earless." A blind man famed for his skill in recitation and in playing upon the biwa. It is said that when he sang even the goblins [kijin] could not refrain from tears.
The fading scent of a summer night thick with the tricks of demonic forces: Hoichi sits in silent meditation surrounded by the fragrance of an ancient moribund garden at the season's end. A spectral osmanthus blossom is carried crisply on the night air accompanied by the crumbling of Japanese maple leaves crunching under the ghostly samurai's foot as he draws near. The polished teak wood biwa rests silently next to Hoichi, reflecting the glow of the last firefly as the black inky musk of inscribed prayers is lifted heavenward propelled by fear and the body heat generated by Hoichi's trembling heart. The cold metallic tang of blood congealing on Hoicihi's head completes this ghostly portrait.
ONI BI
The Demon Fires
Tunisian amber, red musk, black myrrh, African violet, tonka bean and bergamot reinforced by a supple leather accord
______________________________________________________.
JIKININKI
I have been obliged to feed upon the corpses of the people who die in this district: every one of them I must devour in the way that you saw last night.
Dried blood musk, the chilled air of October, bleached bone and offerings of incense, chrysanthemums and toasted rice.
THE RUINOUS ANJITSU
On the top of a hill lighted by the last rays of the sun, one of those little hermitages, called anjitsu, which are built for solitary priests.
Hinoki, black myrrh, vanilla husk, orris root, bergamot, yuzu and night blooming jasmine tea.
______________________________________________________
AN ITINERANT SOBA-SELLER
Was it anything like THIS that she showed you?" cried the soba-man, stroking his own face--which therewith became like unto an Egg.
Bone musk, pine sap. oakmoss, faded sandalwood, cade and scorched willow.
MUJINA
Then that O-jochu turned around, and dropped her sleeve, and stroked her face with her hand;--and the man saw that she had no eyes or nose or mouth!
Pearl musk, black lotus, blonde patchouli, aged tobacco blanc, golden honey and quince.
WEEPING AT THE MOAT
A woman crouching by the moat, all alone, and weeping bitterly.
Still water, water lily, gingergrass, clove, hiba wood, dragon's blood and blackberry blossom.
______________________________________________________
MOSAKU & MINOKICHI
In a village of Musashi Province, there lived two woodcutters: Mosaku and Minokichi.
Mahogany, Mirabelle plum, red amber, golden sandalwood, smoked patchouli and sugared pomegranate.
O-YUKI
Even as she screamed, her voice became thin, like a crying of wind;--then she melted into a bright white mist that spired to the roof-beams, and shuddered away through the smoke-hold... Never again was she seen.
White tea, crystalline amber, spun sugar, oleander, white opium and stargazer lily.
YUKI-ONNA
The white woman bent down over him, lower and lower, until her face almost touched him; and he saw that she was very beautiful,--though her eyes made him afraid.
Wind whipped sugared vanilla snow, black orchid, ginger tea and ume blossom.

Resurrected for 2013

It seems that the end of October and early November is the time of year where many cultures have holy days honoring death. From Los Dias de los Muertos to Samhain tide this has been the season to honor, revere and even celebrate the role death has in our lives. Using three works of art as inspiration, we are offering a trilogy of fragrances to pay tribute to the ancestors, to show respect for the power of the spirit of Iku (Yoruban personification of Death) and to the metaphysical associations that are part and parcel to the concept: transitions, inevitable change and destruction that clears the way to creation. Maferefun Oya, Kali, Hecate, Set, Baron Samedi and the Ghede, Egun, Yewa and all other spirits who work and exist in such a nebulous and liminal space fraught with a spectrum of human emotion: from the depths of suffering and grief stemming from senseless and tragic loss to the heights of grace and light embedded in those moments where death is a release from pain and an ascension into the Great Mystery.
The fragrances have been formulated to be worn layered together, but they are perfectly suitable to be worn individually
The Dance of Death series will be available until the Sun exits the sign of Scorpio in November.

CONJURE'S CARNAL DELIGHTS COLLECTION

Autumn is a season most voluptuous and sensual. Colors in their crimson, orange and ochre vibrancy flash their iridescent fire from quaking leaves. The sky, in its dazzling display of darkness, threatens the diminishing light with clouds suspended heavily in the air, saturated with the thick storms of a thousand nights. Respite is found in the infinity azure expanse that arches effortless with the angles of sunlight, golden, slanting to earth creating a crisp, clean and shimmering aura to the world around us. A chill embraces the frosted air and our breath is etched in silver tendrils reaching heavenward. Seeking warmth and connection, we wrap our arms around ourselves and our loved ones and descend within; our thoughts deepen while our vision expands.
Conjure's Carnal Delights Collection is a celebration of the senses that the autumnal season ignites like no other. I've hand picked the fragrances that speak to me of deepest Autumn, of introspection, of sensuality and of delight. All fragrances are accords crafted in house unique to Conjure Oils!
In celebration of this season most wonderful, we're offering custom fragrances for a limited time. Depending on the success of the line, I may later offer candles, soaps, whips, sprays and lotions in the Carnal Delights Collection! It's up to you!
CARNAL DELIGHTS - CUSTOM FRAGRANCES - BACK FOR 2013!
Select up to five of the accords listed below to create your own signature scent! In order to prevent a back log, I can only accept orders for twenty five (or so) customs, so once the limit is reached, I'll mark the option as sold out.

ABANDONED MORGUE 2013
Are you here on a dare and wishing you weren't, or is this your new nightly haunt? Either way, this old abandoned morgue has many stories to tell. Tonight we'll listen intently with the lights out!
Ghost of a bonfire, tonka bean, vanilla bourbon, Zanzibar clove, black amber and dark Indonesian patchouli.

CALAVERA DE AZUCAR 2013
Celebrate El Dia de los Muertos swirling in sumptuous scent!
Muscovado sugar, royal icing and meringue powder with a slight hint of metaphysical white musk.

HANSEL UND GRETEL 2013
Nibble nibble like a mouse, who's been nibbling at my house?
A gingerbread house decorated with spice drops and butter cream frosting. The faint smell of a witch's brew filling the enchanted woods and roaring cook stove perfect for roasting a greedy little boy or girl.

MAUSOLEUM 2013
The dusty stillness of the afterlife.
Emerald moss, black orchids, cold stones and holy water.

MIDNIGHT DREARY 2013
Maybe it's the long winter looming around the corner? Perhaps it's the lengthening of the evening hours that signal the death of summer? Perchance it's simply sorrow for the lost Lenore? I couldn't tell you. But Poe's passion for the macabre (and maybe the love of laudanum) have led you down a dark path this evening. Will the sun ever rise again? In this midnight dreary mood, the answer is unlikely.
Pale ghost lilac and melancholy moonflowers decorate an elaborately antique mahogany table. Fig and clove, wafts of opium smoke hang heavy in the parlor as an open window carries a draft of night air and autumn leaves.

MURDER OF CROWS 2013
Every fall they gather in murderous shrieking clusters blacking out the branches in the oak and apple trees across the street. They caw and cackle in a long-overdue maniacal avian family reunion from Hell.
The softest touch of black leather feathers, oak splinters, acorn, crumbled leaves and baked apples drizzled in brandy all illuminated by creamy vanilla moonlight

PUNKIN' HEAD 2013
No tricks here! Just sweet treats!
Juicy, spicy pumpkin blended in with adorable creamy bits of cheesecake slathered in caramel sauce.

SUCCUBUS 2013
A demon who takes the form of a gorgeous human female specifically to seduce men. Like the incubus, the succubus may have been a scapegoat for infidelity or stray lust. Either way, the succubus has captured the imagination of men for ages, rousing all flavors of fear and fantasy.
African violet, sugar soaked vanilla, benzoin, coconut milk, triple cream, Egyptian sandalwood musk and red currant.

WITCHING HOUR 2013
A midnight walk through the pumpkin patch on All Soul's Eve.
Spiced pumpkin, falling leaves, a black velvet cloak to pull close for warmth and a frankincense candle offering for the spirits residing in the nearby cemetery.

WHEW! Happy Hallows, ConjurePunks! I'll get your goodies out to you ASAP!

Love,

Vajra
